AION 2 on PS5: In Development, No Date Yet

At launch you can only play on PC. Not on PS5. October 5, 2026 is PC only, through Steam and PURPLE. Steam’s store page flags Windows and nothing else.

But this is not a case of “no console news”. Development PD Kim Nam-jun confirmed in a July 20, 2026 interview with Korean outlet GameVu that a PS5 version is in development. There is just no schedule and no official platform announcement.

Platform status

PS5: confirmed in development, no timeline

This section matters because it is not the same as “NC said nothing”.

On July 20, 2026, Korean outlet GameVu published an interview with NC business lead Seo In-seop and development PD Kim Nam-jun. The question was direct: a console version is reportedly planned - where does it stand?

Kim’s answer:

It is hard to state a specific schedule, but we are working hard on development. Controller support on Steam is also finished. A lot of people are waiting, and we want to show it as soon as we can.

You can trace the direction further back. On November 26, 2025, Japanese outlet denfaminicogamer published a developer interview whose headline already read “PlayStation 5 version also in development”. NC acknowledged the PS5 plan while discussing its strategic partnership with SIE, and explained the silence at the time by saying the Korea and Taiwan launch was imminent and it was “premature” to discuss a PS5 version that was still far off.

That interview also carries a telling detail: the reduced number of skill slots was not for mobile - it was designed with console in mind.

Put together, the accurate statement is: the PS5 version is a project NC acknowledges. There is no release date, no official platform announcement, and no stated completion point.

German outlet MeinMMO reached the same reading on August 21, 2026 - “not for now”, with “no possible release timeframe for the console port”. Xbox and Switch do not appear in any of these interviews.

One more thing worth noting: NC said console work will proceed after “the Korea and Taiwan launch, and then the global launch”. So the real window for news opens after October 5.

Global mobile: officially ruled out

Mobile exists, but it belongs to the Korea and Taiwan service. That service opened on November 19, 2025 with PC, iOS and Android at the same time, and has been running for nearly a year.

The global build has no mobile version. This is not “not announced yet”. In the GameVu interview the reporter asked directly whether global never had a mobile plan, and business lead Seo In-seop said yes. Steam’s FAQ likewise states the global version is “currently being developed exclusively for PC platforms”.

There is a Reddit thread on r/Aion2 titled “Disappointed that the global release won’t include mobile”. That confirms it is a decision, not a missing statement.

If you want to practise on the Asia service, remember two things: characters and progress do not transfer, and the content cadence there is not the global cadence.

Controllers: playable, but “full support” is still being evaluated

There are two official statements about controllers, and you need both.

The July 2026 developer statement: Kim Nam-jun said “controller support on Steam is also finished”.

The September 2026 official written statement (Steam pre-release FAQ): “While AION 2 is playable with a controller, we are still evaluating if full controller support is within our scope for launch.”

The two do not conflict. A controller works. Full support - on-screen prompts, remapping - is still being evaluated. The Korean official guidebook also lists a “game controller support BETA” page. MeinMMO adds that controller implementation in Korea and Taiwan drew criticism at home because buttons could not easily be remapped.

So: get the controller ready. Do not expect a complete custom experience on day one.

Where to watch for news

Three places respond fastest: NC’s official newsroom (about.ncsoft.com), the platform flags on the Steam store page (the publisher fills them in, so a console flag appears immediately), and the announcements area of the official global teaser site.

Developer interviews also tend to signal direction before announcements do. That is exactly how the PS5 news surfaced.

Before any of that, check two things: whether your PC specs are enough, and which entry point to pick.
